Gameplay

SpongeBob SquarePants in Bikini Bottom Bother is a 2D flick-screen adventure platform game set in the undersea Bikini Bottom. The player takes control of SpongeBob, who can run, jump, inflate (a double jump with slow falling) and shoot bubbles to entrap and destroy enemies. Coins and treasure can be collected to increase the player's score, while Krabby Patty meals can fill up the player's health bar, consisting of five hearts which are removed on contact with an enemy: (these can be undersea plants and creatures, and later, Plankton's Thug Tugs) when the health bar reaches zero, the player must restart the current level from the beginning.

Plot

Deep down in the Pacific Ocean in the city of Bikini Bottom lives a square yellow sea sponge, SpongeBob SquarePants! SpongeBob lives in a pineapple with his pet snail, Gary, loves his job as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab Restaurant, and has a knack for getting into trouble without trying...

Meanwhile, in Bikini Bottom, rival restaurant owner Plankton is up to his evil tricks again... As his failing restaurant, the Chum Bucket, crumbles round his ears, Plankton hatches a diabolical plan to bring down the Krusty Krab and its owner, Mr. Krabs... Plankton has stolen King Neptune's crown and framed Mr. Krabs for the theft. Neptune, furious that anyone dare be so bold - sends his squires to arrest Mr. Krabs and deliver him to his Undersea Castle - for execution!

Take control of SpongeBob and recover the Crown from Plankton's hiding place. Then, as fast as your spongy legs can carry you, set out for King Neptune's castle...

Only SpongeBob can save Mr. Krabs and ensure that the the Krusty Krab Restaurant (and its world famous Krabby Patties) remains intact!
