Gameplay
Denki Blocks involves sliding multicoloured Gumblocks around a grid, joining them together into clumps, navigating around immovable white blocks called Blockers.[2] There are two types of puzzle in Denki Blocks:
- Join all Gumblocks of the same colour[3]
- Make a corresponding shape using the correct colour Gumblocks[4]
Extra points are awarded for completing puzzles depending on the amount of time taken and moves used.[5] Up to three moves can be reversed[6] (pressing SELECT reverses one move[7]) and a puzzle can be reset at any time in case an error occurs.[8]
Development
Denki Blocks was originally developed for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color handheld consoles in 2001, the latter of which was developed by Covert Operations. Rage Games, the publisher of Denki Blocks in Europe, signed a deal with BSkyB to release a version of the game on the Open.... games platform prior to the release of the Game Boy versions. Later versions were released for Java-compatible mobile phones in 2002, iOS devices in 2010, and further releases for Android, the Sony PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 in 2011, the latter of which was developed by Tiger Games.
